Veritable Quandary, located right in the heart of the busy city, is a charming dining garden with an “Old Portland” feel. The dining room’s glass walls can be opened to the outdoor elements, allowing for fresh air and the scent of blossoming flowers or they can be closed to keep guests cozy on a rainy day. The abundance of greenery surrounding Veritable Quandary changes with the seasons, as does Chef Annie Cuggino’s menu. Chef Cuggino uses fresh ingredients from local farmers to create a unique Northwest cuisine that is mixed with some flavors from her past, having previously worked in restaurants in New York and New Orleans.
Veritable Quandary is a fantastic restaurant, and everything they make is wonderful.
I was looking for a place for a romantic prom dinner for my daughter and her boyfriend who both have special needs. The staff treated them with great respect, and they had a wonderful time, and seemed to enjoy their meal. I spent time in the bar at the end of their meal while they finished and had an opportunity to talk to the server about their evening. It was the beginning of a great evening for both of them.
VQ has a large variety of unique dishes. We came with a large party and were able to try many different things, all good and each one with its special flavors. The service from the bar to the hostess to the waitress left nothing to be desired. This is our second time back and we will be back again.
Service was poor and food was average. Last time it was great but not so this time.
