Modeled on classic French bistros, the two story Higgins Restaurant and Bar features primarily French cuisine with a hint of Pacific Northwest and European influences. Executive Chef and Owner Greg Higgins emphasizes fresh ingredients from local, sustainable farms in each dish on the menu. In addition to the main dining rooms, there is a bistro and bar located on the lower level. Higgins boasts an extensive wine list as well as a broad range of beers from all over the world. Both levels of the restaurant are well-lit with ambient lighting and natural light from large windows that line the walls to highlight the mahogany paneling and two-tone décor. Guests seated on the lower level are treated to an open view of the kitchen from which the chef can view all tables while preparing their food. From a romantic dinner any night of the week to a quick yet delicate meal in the back bistro, Higgins offers a variety of options for all diners.
I've been to Higgins several times in the past six years. Their food is always savory, ptices just a tad high, and ambience is nice. But the wait staff keeps me from returning more often. They perform their functions adequately, but truthfully, I am always left cold by their "snootiness." it is a small complaint, I know, but, well, a little more friendliness from the staff would do wonders for recidivism!
