Fittingly set in the Industrial District, Clarklewis is housed in an invitingly airy and open former loading dock. Dimly lit with ingeniously placed flashlights at each table to guide along the occasional disoriented diner, it lends the contemporary décor a soft and cozy edge. Emanating from the open kitchen’s wood-fired stove is a warm smoky smell sure to make your mouth water for one of their meat specialties such as the Spit-Roasted Chicken or Hearth-Roasted Carlton Pork Shoulder. Their hearty American fare serves local, organic, seasonal ingredients in a thoughtful presentation that will delight even the most particular of guests.

Giorgio’s is a restaurant that continues to be truly authentic to Northern Italian cuisine. Owner/Chef Giorgio Kawas initially learned to love cooking at an early age from his mother in Italy. Gaining interest as he got older, Chef Kawas studied cooking in Northern Italy before opening Giorgio’s. The restaurant’s carefully selected menu items include home-made pastas, seafood and vegetarian options, and an impressive seventy-five bottle wine program with options from Italy, France and Oregon. The atmosphere is sophisticated and comfortable, and although the options may be extensive, Giorgio makes a great effort to focus on providing simple, lingering satisfaction.

At A Cena, Chef Gabe Gabreski combines the comforts of home-cooked meals with the sophistication of fine dining. Guests can relax in one of the restaurants two dining rooms; each dimly lit with soft décor, or find a seat at the bar while awaiting their freshly prepared meal. Striving for quality, Chef Gabreski utilizes product from local Portland farmers, freshly baked breads, hand-made pasta, and a carefully selected wine list. Chef Gabreski was born in Italy but studied cooking in America, so it’s only natural for him to fuse Americanized Italian favorites like spaghetti and pizza, with authentic Italian recipes.

London Grill

Located in the Benson Hotel, The London Grill has become a landmark in Portland especially since it recently received a makeover. The new and improved London Grill features bold modern décor, new Executive Chef Serge Selbe, and a freshly altered menu. It offers exquisite Northwestern menu items such as Grilled Lamb Chops with ratatouille crepinette, polenta, Chinese eggplant and hazelnut emulsion, and a wine list with over 6,000 bottles. For special occasions guests can request one of three private rooms, appropriately named “Little London,” “The Wine Cellar” and “The Wine Room,” each functional for rehearsal dinners, business luncheons, romantic dinners and private parties.
